Fashion is... School!

So, long time, no talk! I started my freshman year of highschool on Tuesday, and it was okay. I was so excited to go and meet new people and I get to all my classes and I know every kid in every class. I was so bummed. I did join the debate team, and I heard that debate people get really close, so hopefully I'll meet new people there! I wore this the first day of school! Just a simple outfit, that appeals to most people. Don't want to be to outlandish the first day! Hahah. Today, I'm wearing something similiar to the mall to find my friend a homecoming dress! It's in two weeks! Ah! And I'm excited :)

Fashion is... New!

I have no decided that my outfits look henious in the photo, but cute in real life, and it's starting to bug me, hahah. I look so gangly! Hahah. Anyways, my day. So, we had orientation for highschool today! Yay! I got my official schedule, looked around the school, saw people I haven't seen in 3 years (and 3 monthes) and got pictures taken! The picture guy was rediculous. He set me up, and than I thought he'd count "One, two, three" and than a flash. But he goes "Okay. Flash". I will probabl look so confused, but I was smiling :) I decided to go with a simple top, so in 15 years when I look back at my yearbook, I won't say "What the hell was I wearing!?!" I opted for a simple necklace, and capris! Random flipflops I found on my floor, and I was set! It was a fun day :) My top is from Delias ($5), the capris are from HCO ($10) The necklace is from a boutique up north ($3) and the flipfloops were at oldnavy (2 for $5). And the bracelets were from friends, so free :) That made my total outfit worth $20.50! Yay for bargain hunting ;)

Fashion Is... Eclectic

Okay so I'm cheating a little bit. I wore this a while ago but I'm posting it anyway. I love combining staples from very different styles- it creates a fun unique look. Here, I combined a very yacht-like preppy look with a kind of indie-boho scarf. The shorts are very classic, white linen with a wide cuff. The sweater is an airy knit, perfect for summer, and I added a purple tank under. I liked the unusual color combination. The scarf was sort of random and last minute because the sweater felt bare without it. The busy, colorful print is a prefect contrast with the the plain pieces in the rest of the outfit and it makes it more interesting. For some reason I took of my shoes in this picture, but I was wearing gold ballet flats.

Sweater: Mable & Zora
Tank: Target
Shorts: J.Crew (in white)
Shoes: Jeffery Campbell

Fashion is...silly!

Scarf: Claire's
Top: Hanes(?)
Skinny Jeans: Paris Blues
Belt: PacSun
Shoes(not shown): Converse All-Star (lo)
I threw this outfit together last night, joking around with my roommate. (Yep, that's right - Barbie is officially a college student!) Buuut then I decided to actually wear it. Haha, the first day of classes is today so I figured why not? It's a little "scene kid," I think, but it's not all crazy and wild and stuff. Maybe indie? I don't know!
Plans today: American History & Psych, bowling, movies!

Fashion is ... Fast.

Today, I had "bonding" time with my mother. We went grocery shopping, hahah. It was a random thing, like I'd been in my PJ's when she says "Leahbeah, we're going grocery shopping." Okay, mom. So I had to throw on clothes in 2 minutes. I threw on shorts, the cami I was already wearing, and a top that I got for only 9$, at AF of all places. And I threw on a bracelet. Took me longer to do my makeup than my clothes today. I also like that even though it's super simple, and doesn't have many pieces, it's still interesting, with the crochet detailing of the top.

I also thought you guys might be curious as to what I'm always wearing on my wrists, so I decided to take a picture of them! They are bracelets that some of my bestfriends made for me. 2 of them have fallen of recently, so I only have 4 on :(

Fashion Is... Best Friends.

I love my best friend. She is seriously, like my other half. Last time we hung out, I got sick (see two posts down) so I wanted to redeem myself this time by not throwing up when we hung out! I wore this over to her house and brought my swimsuit, and a change of clothes for after. I love this outfit because it's simple, but has beautiful embroidery. Perfect for a summer's day. The necklace is actually a "Best Friends" locket that we bought together :) Anyways, we went swimming basically all day, made brownies in a heart shaped pan, and choose out picture day outfits! When we came down to dinner, we wore matching outfits (we buy the same basic clothes... hahaha, we decided to be dorks) and ate, and made "crap pies". It's like bread, with butter and pie filling, we had raspberry, and than you cook it on the fire. Very good. So, that was my amazing day. We also attempted to take photos of us jumping in the water. The one of the far left is when we put it on timer, and that was the best one we got; it's are to do!

Fashion is... Simple.

This outfit is just about as simple as simple gets. Denim shorts, white top-- there's not much to it. I wore this to my friend's party by the lake and it worked perfectly; it was laid-back but still put together. The loose top a sailor shorts were easy to take on and off when wondering between the lake and picnic tables (mini cupcakes and fruit salad... yum!). I love how fresh and easy the top is, yet clean-cut enough to dress up. I could wear it with dark wash skinny jeans (to balance out the very loose fit) and metallic flats to go out. Even though I wouldn't be able to wear the bikini top underneath on a regular day, I loved the feminine touch it ads to the outfit. I love the girly embroidery on the top, which is something Betsey Johnson does so well. I love her attention to detail which makes her dresses so amazing, but clearly she doesn't stop there. In short, I love this swimsuit.

Fashion is ... sick.

This weekend I had to face one of my biggest fears in life; throwing up. I had just gotten back from camp, where the stomach bug was going around, and I went boating with my friend. Let me say, that was a bad decision. So for the past two days, this is all I've been wearing. It is not exact, but when I tried to take the picture the lighting was messed up, so I decided to do this instead. I have sweatpants, my brothers sweatshirt, a plain white tank and some bright purple slippers. I was super excited, because today, I was able to actually eat food, instead of the two pieces of toast I had yesterday. That was killer. Oh! I'm also very excited because I just got my schedule for highschool! My bestfriend and I have math last hour together for the whole year! I'm sooooo excited! I was literally jumping up and down when she told me! I also have six girls I know in my health class. But get this! I have health fourth hour, spanish 5th and than gym sixth. I didn't even know it was legal to have two "gym" classes in a tri, let alone a class apart! Oh well, right after that I have math, which should be extremely fun! So now that you're probably really bored with me, and my schedule, I shall stop talking! Have a nice day :)

Fashion is...self-sacrifice.

Dress, Luxe
Shorts, Soffe
Gladiators, Bamboo
Bag, Lucky Brand
Under normal circumstances, I am content to wear my dresses solo, perhaps with a slip when necessary. However, with this particular dress, I feel it precautionary to wear shorts underneath. These shorts, made by Soffe, are also white, and can be rolled up as they are made of cloth. I roll them enough so you can't see them under the dress, but I don't feel so worried that with every step I take, my undergarments will be exposed. Fashion Tip #1 - Don't pull a Britney. Even exposing a bit of your shorts is a better "wardrobe malfunction" than exposing undergarments!
Now, I've worn at uncomfortable shoe or two before. But these babies take the cake. They have small metal grommets throughout the shoe that, unfortunately, dig into the skin, leave rust-colored bruises. The straps aren't adjustable, so you have to squeeze your gams in, which leaves you with unsightly strap-marks once you remove the shoe. However, the shoes aren't horrible to walk in, though I don't recommend them for a day at the amusement park! But, a short shopping trip should be fine. :) As my friend says, "Who cares if it's comfortable? I look cute!" Also, this is one of the "riskiest" outfits I would wear...I prefer my style to be classic, but I loved this outfit. Fashion Tip #2 - Don't be afraid to take risks, even if it's outside of your norm! I got so many compliments today!
While shopping today, I picked up the softest scarf from Claire's. It was on sale, so I had to have it. It's a dark pink and plaid - very cute! I tried to get away with a $0.97 bandana from WalMart, buuut it didn't go as planned, so I set my sights on buying a real scarf! I also found the most amazing bag...and I wish I had bought it. However, I'm trying to save my money, and just can't afford a new bag right now. Ohh, it was the softest, buttery-leather brown bag, from Nine West. *sigh* I'll just have to make-do with what I have.

Fashion is...ch-ch-changes!

Floral dress, Trixxi

T-strap sandals, Montego Bay

Pardon the mess and the fact that I'm only wearing one shoe - this morning was so hectic! We spent the morning running errands, and by the time I got home (and out of humid heat!), all I wanted to do was to change into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. ...And then I realized I forgot to take a picture of my outfit. So I scrambled to change again, and I couldn't my find my other shoe in the blackhole I was calling a bedroom. Hence the one-shoe-ness in this photo. I did eventually find my shoe, after I cleaned my room! :)

Gray top, WetSeal
Destroyed jeans, Paris Blues
Belt, PacSun
Ten Commandments charm bracelet, fair

Despite evidence to the contrary, I did wear shoes with this outfit! I wore black flip-flops from Old Navy, in the old style, not that new stuff they have! A few friends and I went to play pool tonight, but because I wasn't feeling well, it was cut short. This outfit is really basic, but it was comfy, and I felt cute, so what they hey!

Fashion is... Neutral

So this outfit is composed of pretty basic pieces; a solid sweater, jeans, a tank, and flats. The key to making something so cookie cutter look unique is to wear pieces with unusual details-- look for 'eye candy'. The crocheted detailing on the sweater is perfect example of this. It keeps the outfit very natural looking without being boring. Another way to make a basic outfit interesting is by using unusual color combinations. I used very neutral colors in this one: beige, brown (flats) and dark wash denim. Pretty boring. I felt that the top needed a little bit of saturation, so I added an unexpected pop of purple underneath.  This is a perfect everyday outfit and it's easy to put on in the morning. It's really nothing more than what most people wear on a daily basis. A couple layered tops and jeans, easy right?

I finally got my new camera today! Last weekend, my grandma's cats hid it at the coast...memory card and all. I knew I wanted to get the same kind of camera (Kodak C613,) but after researching, I realized that they had a few new versions out - the C713 and the C813. Online, the C813 was on sale for only $90, so I decided I would buy that one. It's the same camera, but more megapixels = better quality pictures! However, when I got to WalMart today, it was $100! So I decided I would just get the C713, but they weren't in stock...so boyfriend gave me some cash to buy this one! I also bought Duracell rechargeable batteries + recharger, as well as a memory card that's apparently "the best they sell." My last memory card was 4G, and this one is only 1G, but until I have $50 to spend on a memory card...I can settle for 400 pictures!
After WalMart, we stopped by Subway to grab a couple sandwiches, then came home and ate them while watching some lame horror movie. Now I'm in a pair of black Soffe shorts and laying in bed with my puppy!

Fashion is... American

What do I do right when I get up this morning? I start freaking out because I leave for camp tomorrow with my bestfriends. We're going to take over half of our cabin, and it's going to be the best time ever. Than I realize, I haven't packed... like at all, which is super abnormal for me. I looked at the list, and alas I need toiltereies from Target. There I ran. So I've been packing, targeting, and playing with my dog in my lovely American-esque outfit. Mind my silly pose, I just woke up, and was to lazy to crop my head out of the shot ;)

Stay Fashionable,

Fashion is... Lazy.

I was kind of excited when I saw an overcast sky when I woke up because that meant I got to break out my Uggs for the first time in months. Not exactly the way one imagines celebrating the first day of August, but why not? Plus I got to test drive my new favorite cardigan that I got for fall. It's absolutely perfect; it's baggy without swallowing me, it's the perfect shade of purple, and it's oh-so-comfy. It's kind of like wearing a big hug. It is, after all, the middle of summer so I felt I couldn't get away with long pants. I went with just the opposite, my short Nike spandex running shorts. Definitely not something I would wear outside of the house, but I figured I could make it work behind closed doors. Hopefully no unexpected visitors turn up today...
